The Cardinal Excilon AMD antimicrobial I.V. sponge is a sterile, 6-ply square sponge made of nonwoven material impregnated with PHMB (polyhexamethylene biguanide), an antiseptic. It is a 2 x 2 inch sponge for facility and home use.
- Impregnated with PHMB (polyhexamethylene biguanide), an antiseptic with broad-range activity against Gram positive and Gram negative microorganisms, including some multi-drug resistant strains such as MRSA
- Made to resist bacterial colonization, reduce bacterial penetration, limit cross-contamination and maintain the balance of native skin flora
- Made to help limit the growth and spread of microorganisms in the dressing
- Made to help minimize exposure from strike-through
