Abbott Nutrition Glutarex-1 is an amino acid-modified infant formula with iron, sold as an unflavored powder in a 14.1-ounce can. It is made for infants and toddlers with Glutaric Aciduria Type-1 (GA-1), and it is taken by mouth. Check with your care team about whether it fits your child's plan.
- Lysine-free and tryptophan-free, which allows a greater intake of intact protein
- Contains L-carnitine at 900 mg per 100 grams, to help supply the amount normally found in human milk and foods of animal origin and to help excrete toxic metabolites
- Contains taurine at 40 mg per 100 grams, to help supply the amount normally found in human milk and foods of animal origin
- Approximately 40% of energy comes from fat, to help achieve acceptable formula osmolality
- 6.6% of energy comes from linoleic acid
